Mediation and Conflict Resolution
With almost 20 years of practice experience as a dual‑admitted attorney in New York and Florida, Steckley L. Lee brings compassionate, skilled conflict resolution services to families, individuals, communities, small businesses and not-for-profits. Since 2013 she has operated a boutique practice in New York, representing clients in family law, art law, church law, small business and nonprofit matters, land conservation, elder and special needs care, end‑of‑life decision‑making, and LGBTQIA+ rights. Prior to private practice, Steckley served as a staff attorney for the Brooklyn Family Defense Project, litigated custody and abuse cases in Kings County Family Court, served as an Assistant Public Defender, and worked as an Equal Justice Works Fellow advocating for ex‑offenders. In all of these roles, Steckley has seen the power of mediation to heal conflict and give clients a conduit for regaining control and peace during life’s most challenging chapters. Steckley has taught as an adjunct professor of law at Cardozo School of Law and the University of Florida. She currently teaches Negotiation Law at North Carolina Central University Law School.
In addition to her professional experience, Steckley has many lived experiences that have shaped her into a deeply empathetic, open minded and creative legal neutral. These experiences make her excited to work with neurodiverse, disabled and/or LBGTQIA+ families, elders, community and congregational conflicts, small business owners, artists and healers. She has also provided many hours of service to her local school, neighborhood and wider community and sought to help find solutions to conflict in these spaces that create a more thriving life for all. Having served as a public interest attorney and legal educator, Steckley welcomes unrepresented parties who would like to resolve their disputes without the expense of hiring an attorney.
